Interaction of gamma radiation with environmental particles- Photo and Compton effects

Author: Ekaterine Megrelidze
Annotation:

The bachelor's thesis discusses the interaction of gamma radiation with environmental particles. Photo and Compton effects are presented. It has been shown that the Compton effect is the elastic scattering of a photon as a particle by a free electron, and the photo effect is the process of absorption of a photon by a strongly bound electron. Both direct and inverse Compton effects are discussed. In an additional paper, the process of creation of electron-positron pair during the interaction of high-energy gamma particles with the electromagnetic field of the surrounding nucleus is included.
