In this paper blockchain technologies and their origins are considered. It explains why the blockchain was created and what advantages does it have compared to the existing banking system. Also it explains the mathematical problems, which is a foundational blocks for blockchain to work safely and correctly. This paper also explains what is bitcoin and how bitcoin mining works. In the end it contains some examples how blockchain can be used to solve different every day problems.
